Collin Fall 2025

Business continues as usual in city

by | Mar 18, 2021 | Latest

Some Murphy businesses won’t be fazed by the mask mandate lifted by Gov. Greg Abbott.

Going into effect March 10, the governor’s executive also allowed businesses and facilities to return to 100% capacity. Businesses, though, can still require customers to wear masks.

Businesses in Murphy are making adjustments, if any, to the executive order, with

Tim Legh-Page, owner of BackYard Murphy restaurant, explaining the executive order doesn’t affect his operation, as most of his business is conducted outdoors.

“The people that were going out to begin with, it doesn’t really change them,” he said. “The people that were not going out and were worried about wearing the mask, they didn’t come in to begin with. They stayed in. Most businesses are tending to stay with the policies that they had in effect – whether the employees still wear the masks and whether they still have distancing in place.”
