Property taxes on a median value home in Murphy will increase by $165 if City Council gives final approval to the proposed Fiscal Year 2027 tax rate.
Council gave preliminary approval to a 1.2% tax increase — $.004 — at the regular Tuesday, Aug. 18, meeting and scheduled a public hearing for 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, to consider the proposed rate of $.361832 per $100 of assessed valuation.
The taxpayer impact statement prepared by Collin County said the median value of a home in Murphy had increased by $39,095 this year to $592,198 and the higher rate would increase the yearly tax bill by $165.34 to $2142.76.
