City election set for May 2

Mayor Scott Bradley is unopposed in the Saturday, May 2, city election, but two councilmembers face challengers on the ballot.

Place 3 Councilmember Andrew Chase is opposed by Deborah Ison and Place 5 Councilmember Laura Deel is opposed by Manoj Varghese, Kevin Kelley and Sarah Fincanon.

Fincanon served two terms on council before being defeated by Deel in May 2023.

Murphy city officeholders are elected at-large to three-year terms.

Friday, April 2, is the last day to register to vote. Early voting will be held from Monday, April 20, to Tuesday, April 28.
