Collin County voters go back to the polls in March to choose Republican and Democratic candidates for November’s general election.

Monday, Dec. 8, was the deadline for candidates to file for party primaries to be held Tuesday, March 3.

Secretary of State Jane Nelson said Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026, is the first day to apply for a ballot by mail and Monday, Feb. 2, is the last day to register to vote.

Tuesday, Feb. 17, will be the first day of early voting, Friday, Feb. 20, is the last day to apply for a ballot by mail and Friday, Feb. 27, is the last day of early voting. If needed, runoffs will be held Tuesday, May 26.

Collin County Elections Administrator Kaleb Breaux says his office was working on the number of polling locations.

“Texas Election Code uses a formula for vote center counties to figure out the number of polling locations during an election for state and federal officials,” he said. “Senate Bill 985 allows us to combine some precincts, which are part of the formula used to determine the number of polling locations. We believe that the number will be between 91 and 100 election day locations.”

The Tuesday, Nov. 3, general election will decide a raft of top state officials starting with the governor, all 150 Texas House seats, 16 state senate positions and a variety of county slots.

At the federal level, there is one U.S. Senate seat and all 38 seats in the U.S. House.

Seeking a fourth term in Austin, Gov. Greg Abbott faces challengers in his GOP primary including Arturo Espinosa, Pete “Doc” Chambers, Evelyn Brooks, Kenneth Hyde, Ronnie Tullos, Nathaniel Welsh, Charles Andrew Crouch and R.F. “Bob” Achgill.

Democrats will select their own gubernatorial candidate and choices on a preliminary list provided by the Collin County Democratic Party includes Chris Bell, Patricia Abrego, Bobby Cole, Gina Hinojosa, Angela Villescaz, Navarro Balbuena, Zach Vance and Carlton W. Hart.

Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick is opposed by fellow Republicans Esala Wueschner, Perla Munoz Hopkins and Timothy Mabry. Vicki Goodwin has filed as a Democrat.

After nearly 24 years in Washington, U.S. Sen. John Cornyn faces Attorney General Ken Paxton, Houston Congressman Wesley Hunt, Sara Canady and John O. Adefope in the GOP primary. The Democrats’ potential candidates include Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett of Dallas, State Rep. James Talarico of Austin and Ahmad R, Hassan

With Crockett in the senate race, former U.S. Rep. Colin Allred, who ran unsuccessfully against Sen. Ted Cruz in 2024, dropped out of the field and filed instead for the redrawn 33rd Congressional District.

Crockett’s 30th District seat is sought by four Democrats: Pastor Frederick Haynes III of Friendship-West Baptist Church in Oak Cliff, Rodney LaBruce, Saul Rodriguez and Oscar Villar. Republican candidates are Sholdon Daniels, Gregor Heise, Everett Jackson, Cody Nickerson, Stephani Reazor, Michael Alan Viroux and Nils Walker.

After two terms in the U.S. House, 3rd District Congressman Keith Self faces Mark Newgent in the GOP primary. The Democratic candidate is Evan Hunt. Brittany Black is running as an independent.

District 67 State Rep. Jeff Leach is opposed in the Republican primary by Matt Thorsen. Emeka Eluka and Jordan Wheatley are Democratic contenders.

District 89 State Rep. Candy Noble is opposed for the GOP nomination by former Wylie Councilmember Jeff Forrester.

The winner will face Democrat Angie Carraway.

On the Collin County Commissioners Court, incumbent Chris Hill is opposed for County Judge by fellow Republican Rick Grady, a former city councilmember from Plano. The only Democrat is John R. “Buster” Brown.

Precinct 2 Commissioner Cheryl Williams is opposed in the Republican primary by Michael Slaughter, a former Parker councilmember.

Precinct 4 Commissioner Duncan Webb is retiring, and GOP voters will choose between Woody Huffines and Shelby Williams, a former Plano councilmember and Collin County Republican chair. Julie Holmer is the sole Democrat.
