Skele-bration succeeds despite threat of storms

by | Oct 30, 2025 | Latest

A young Spider-man hangs tightly to a big pumpkin on a haunted house ride at the Murphy Skele-bration, Friday, Oct. 24.

The scariest thing Friday, Oct. 24, was the weather forecast. So, Murphy Parks & Recreation moved the annual Skele-bration indoors.

But that didn’t diminish the excitement as hundreds of costumed ghouls, ghosties and superheroes packed the Murphy Activity Center and Community Center for three hours of fun in cooperation with the PTAs of Hood and Boggess Elementary Schools.

The costume contest, sponsored by Hood PTA, drew entries in a wide range of age groups with some of the younger participants unsure which direction to walk on the red carpet.

“This way, this way,” a parent urged her little blue bunny.

“Don’t forget your pony,” another told a pint-sized Woody from “Toy Story.”
