FORNEY – Too much speed. Too much Legend Bey.
That combination led North Forney to a dominant 55-10 non-district win over Plano East Friday night at Better Life Stadium.
“We fought them well for a while, but they just had too much speed for us, just too fast,” said Plano East head coach Tony Benedetto.
North Forney had nearly 600 yards of total offense. Bey, a senior and Tennessee commit, accounted for five total touchdowns (three pass, two rush) with 140 passing yards and 106 rushing yards.
Three Falcons finished with at least 100 rushing yards. Cordai Woodard led the way with 202 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Andikan Asuquo added 110 rushing yards on eight carries with one touchdown.
Plano East (0-2) scored 10 points in the second quarter, but was outscored 21-0 in the third quarter and the fourth quarter was a matter of using young players and running out of the clock.
“I thought we had some momentum at halftime and would come out fast in the third quarter and we didn’t happen so that was disappointing,” Benedetto said.
The Panthers used two quarterbacks: starter Josh Gordon and backup MJ Haggen.
Plano East turned to freshman running back Treyce Seldon when starter Travis Agee was hurt early in the first half and he produced the only Plano East touchdown later in the second quarter.
Seldon finished with 103 yards rushing on 23 carries.
“That’s really impressive for a 14-year-old. He’s a special kid, I think he will be a national recruit,” Benedetto said.
