Plano East went 5-3 at Volleypalooza last weekend to finish 17th out of 66 teams.
The Lady Panthers didn’t need long to find their rhythm, earning wins in four of their first five matches. They cruised to a 25-17, 25-22 win over Coronado in their first match. After losing to Clear Springs 25-9, 21-25, 29-27 in its next match, Plano East bounced back with three straight victories – a 21-25, 25-18, 25-20 win over Eastlake, a 21-25, 25-23, 25-23 come-from-behind win against Harlan and a 25-14, 25-19 triumph over San Antonio Johnson.
The Lady Panthers lost a hard-fought match to Antonian 25-23, 30-28 to begin play Saturday, then dropped a 25-16, 20-25, 25-19 decision to Lake Creek. However, Plano East finished the tournament on a positive note, cruising to a 25-12, 25-21 win over Jenks.
Sophomore Luz Luna contributed 10 kills and 12 assists in the win over Johnson and senior libero Dakota Huynh had 20 digs. Junior Jaiden Boutte accounted for five of Plano East’s 10 blocks against Eastlake.
