James Fisher, former Murphy city manager, was hired July 27 for the same position with the city of Forney.
He was approved by a vote of 6-1, following a Forney city council executive session.
Fisher starts his new job Sept. 6.
An article at inForney.com reported that, “specific salary information was not yet available but sources say that the base salary will be in the in the $160,000-range with a one-year severance package.
Forney councilmember Robbie Powers voted against hiring Fisher citing allegations made against him in 2013, according to reports.
After a three-week investigation, it was determined that the allegations could not be substantiated.
Previous Forney City Manager Brian Brooks announced his resignation Jan. 19, 2016 and council approved a severance package.
Charles Daniels has been serving in the interim role dating back to Feb. 12, 2016.
Fisher resigned his post with the city of Murphy in March 2016, after holding the post since March 31, 2008.
The city of Murphy and Fisher agreed on a separation agreement, which stated that he was to be paid for 12 months at total of $156,814.06, minus applicable tax withholdings, Texas Municipal Retirement System withholdings and any other withholdings previously authorized.
He was paid $6,648.73 for unused vacation time.
Fisher receives 11 months of COBRA premiums at a cost of $1,432.50 per month paid directly to the COBRA service provider on his behalf.
This includes health, dental and vision insurance, and health medical reimbursement paid at the start of each month beginning April 2016 and ending Feb. 1, 2017, for insurance coverage effective through Feb. 27, 2017.
