Thousands of youngsters, baskets and buckets in hand, lined up expectantly for the Hop n’ Hunt in Murphy Central Park.
Overnight thunderstorms that had threatened the annual event moved out of North Texas before dawn on Thursday, April 2, and the weather was partly cloudy, breezy and 80 degrees.
Eloise, who will be 2 in June, practiced in the egg pool under the tutelage of 5-year-old big sister Caroline before hitting acres of soccer fields littered with colorful plastic eggs.
“They’re having such a good time!” said their mom. She added her kids enjoyed the many activities in Murphy and they planned to take part in the fall family campout again this year.
Special Events Manager Ashley Hudson provided ground rules and instructions over a loudspeaker before Recreation Center Supervisor Melvin Capers counted down for the start. In total, the city used 17,000 plastic eggs.
