City looks to build on retail growth

About two-thirds of Murphy’s sale tax revenue comes from in-person local sales and half of that amount is from retail purchases, Economic Development Manager Camryn Thompson says.

Thompson presented the city’s annual economic development report to the Sept. 2 meeting of the Murphy City Council.

She said 64% of the sales tax revenue was generated by local businesses and 36% from online transactions.
