The Parker City Council has approved, with conditions, access from Hogge Drive (FM 2551) to a proposed high-density residential development between Parker and Murphy that has been the subject of a long-running dispute over a planned wastewater treatment plant.
City Attorney Catherine Clifford told the council that the city could not deny the plat request if it complied with applicable laws and city ordinances.
The access approval involves a small tract within Parker city limits but is connected to a much larger development proposal nearby that has drawn opposition from both Parker and Murphy residents.
The request was made by Restore the Grasslands (RTG), a corporation linked to the family trusts of Dallas developers Phillip and Don Huffines. The plat approved Tuesday, March 10, did not include development plans for a separate 101-acre tract just north of Murphy’s Rolling Ridge neighborhood.
