For the second meeting in a row, the Murphy City Council chamber was standing room only as more than 25 residents came to speak in response to public comments made at the Jan. 20 meeting. Council also reviewed capital improvement projects, the city’s investment portfolio and police activity for the final quarter of 2025.
Although it was not on the agenda, the previous council meeting prompted more than two dozen comments opposing a proposal for a parking lot at the Center for Islamic Knowledge on North Murphy Road.
The application had been tabled Jan. 8 by the Planning & Zoning Commission, but residents had come before council to express concerns about the center.
