The 32nd Annual Wylie Champion Rodeo will be back next month with two nights of UPRA-sanctioned rodeo, food, vendor booths and more.
The Wylie Championship Rodeo is back for its 32nd year with two nights of family fun on Friday, Sept. 12, and Saturday, Sept. 13. The annual event promises a full weekend of competition, food, shopping, and activities for kids.
Gates open at 6:30 p.m. both nights at the Wylie Rodeo Arena, located at the Wylie Birmingham Ag Center off Hensley Lane behind Wylie High School. Families who arrive early can enjoy the popular Calf Scramble and Boot Scramble at 7 p.m. with no pre-registration required.
At 7:45 p.m., the traditional Grand Entry kicks off the evening, followed by the UPRA-sanctioned rodeo at 7:50 p.m. Contestants will compete in Bareback Riding, Bronco Busting, Tie-Down Roping, Women’s Breakaway Roping, Team Roping, Barrel Racing, and the always thrilling Bull Riding.
Along with the action in the arena, spectators can browse vendor booths offering boutique clothing, leather goods, home décor, and plenty of food favorites such as barbecue, ice cream and fresh lemonade.
Attendees are reminded there is no parking at the Rodeo Arena. Parking & shuttle service will be provided at Sanden International, 601 Sanden Blvd. in Wylie. For those with a handicap placard, parking will be available near the gate. According to organizers, wheelchair accessibility is limited.
Tickets are available online at WylieRodeo.com or at the gate. General admission is $20 for adults, $5 for children ages 4-12 and seniors 62 and older, and free for children three and under. A family 4-pack is available for $45. Reserved seating in the West Side Grandstand is also available, including snacks, drinks, and a souvenir keychain.
