A pesticide applicator sprays mosquito larvicide in Maxwell Creek to prevent West Nile Virus.
The city of Murphy has begun spraying along Maxwell Creek after mosquitoes carrying the West Nile Virus (WNV) were detected in a trap near Lonesome Dove Trail between Aug. 10 and Aug. 16.
No human cases have been reported. The city conducted spraying last year, starting in June.
This year’s first human case of West Nile illness in Texas was confirmed June 24 in a resident of Brazos County near College Station, public health officials said.
