Students receive service academy appointments

Starting this fall, 31 students from Texas’ 3rd Congressional District will attend U.S. service academies and preparatory schools, Rep. Keith Self said.

His appointments included eight cadets to U.S. Military Academy at West Point, New York; six midshipmen to U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, Maryland; eight cadets to U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado; one midshipman to U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, New York; one candidate to U.S. Military Academy Civil Preparatory School; three candidates to Naval Academy Preparatory School; one candidate to the Naval Academy Civil Preparatory School; and three candidates to the Air Force Academy Preparatory School.

“It’s an honor celebrating this incredible group of students from the 3rd District of Texas who will be embarking on the adventure of a lifetime,” said Self, a West Point graduate. “It takes courage, character, and commitment to achieve success at the service academies, and I have every confidence they will rise to the challenge.”

U.S. Military Academy appointments: Nathan Ooreoluwa Adejokun, Melissa, a graduate of Melissa High School; Caleb Wesley Caldwell, Allen, a graduate of Jesuit Dallas; Jordan Crandall Curtis, Plano, a graduate of Plano West Senior High School; Reed William Hisle, McKinney, a graduate of McKinney North High School; Blake Ryan McKenna, Plano, a graduate of John Paul II High School; Owen Younghoon Ryu, McKinney, a graduate of Texas Academy of Math and Science; Anna Faith Williams, Prosper, a graduate of Rock Hill High School; and Matthew Sumin Wooton, McKinney, a graduate of Imagine International Academy.

U.S. Naval Academy appointments: Brandon Preston De Vun, McKinney, a graduate of McKinney North High School; Aden Tye Lewis, Greenville, a graduate of Greenville High School; Sophie Ella Lopez, McKinney, a graduate of Liberty High School; Matthew David McCoy, Allen, a graduate of Allen High School; Nickole Sophia Rios, Allen, a graduate of Allen High School; Joaquin Cruz Vargas, McKinney, a graduate of McKinney North High School.

U.S. Air Force Academy appointments: Sophie Belle Bridges, Prosper, graduate of Prosper High School; Taylor Rae Carroll, Allen, a graduate of Allen High School; Sara Elizabeth Compton, Prosper, a graduate of Rock Hill High School; Bryce Tanner Denton, Anna, a graduate of Anna High School; Corbin Benzi Glass, Parker, a graduate of Plano East Senior High School; Garrett Christopher Hutchins, Lucas, a graduate of Lovejoy High School; Luke Tyler Phillips, McKinney, a graduate of Princeton High School; and Timothy Hunjae Seo, McKinney, a graduate of Emerson High School.

U.S. Merchant Marine Academy appointment: Jack Quinlin Flannery, McKinney, a graduate of McKinney North High School

U.S. Military Academy Civil Preparatory School appointment: Ethan Hunter Hayward, Allen, a graduate of Lovejoy High School

U.S. Naval Academy Preparatory School appointment: Trystan Rohan Hutchison, Sachse, a graduate of Wylie High School; Tyler Aiden Wall, McKinney, a graduate of McKinney Boyd High School; and Benjamin L Yost, Princeton, a graduate of Olympic High School.

U.S. Naval Academy Civil Preparatory School appointment: McKenzie Kendall Quigley, McKinney, a graduate of Lovejoy High School.

U.S. Air Force Academy Preparatory School appointments: Howard Fisher IV, Wylie, a graduate of Wylie East High School; Christian Rome Jeffers, Wylie, a graduate of Wylie East High School; and Aidan Marc Wylie, Plano, a graduate of Liberty High School.
