After seeing the formations for the last five weeks, and with the Plano East offense running only four or five different play calls during the spring game, head football coach Tony Benedetto felt confident that the Panthers’ defense would have a good chance of winning the spring game.
His prediction was accurate.
The junior varsity game ended with a 61-24 victory for the defense.
The Panthers’ offense put up more of a fight in the varsity game that followed, but the defense emerged victorious in that game as well, winning by a final score of 56-24 at Tom Kimbrough Stadium on Monday, May 12.
“Offensively, we were pretty basic with our formations,” Benedetto said. “We didn’t call a lot of plays, only four or five plays. We didn’t want anyone to see anything of what we do.
“But the kids were flying around, especially the defense. They’re excited.”
