PLANO — Four costly errors doomed the Plano East baseball team last Tuesday in a 9-4 loss to the Allen Eagles in the penultimate and final home game of the season. The Panthers also dropped their season finale, falling 7-0 on the road against Allen.
With the two defeats, Plano East concluded its 2025 campaign with a 14-15-1 overall record. Its 7-9 mark in district play was not enough to secure a postseason berth.
On Tuesday, Allen opened the scoring in the top of the first inning with an RBI single that brought home a runner who had reached on an error — a trend that would prove costly for Plano East throughout the game.
The Panthers tied the score at 1 in the bottom of the first on a run-scoring single by Kellan McWhinnie, but Allen answered with four runs in the third to retake the lead for good. All four runs came after a two-out error extended the inning.
Plano East tried to chip away at the deficit, but Allen’s offense kept the pressure on, adding one run in the fourth and three more in the sixth.
Jackson Hays was a bright spot for the Panthers, going 2-for-4 with a run scored.
Ben Stultz started on the mound for Plano East, lasting just three innings while throwing 71 pitches — 40 of them strikes. He allowed six runs, but only one was earned due to the flurry of defensive miscues behind him.
With the season now complete, the Panthers look ahead to 2026.
