Having lived 22 years in Murphy, Place 4 Councilmember Ken Oltmann said he wants to continue to represent his neighbors.
“I aim to leverage my experience in city government to keep Murphy a thriving community where we can all live our best lives,” Oltmann said.
He said, “I’ve championed a robust business corridor, ensured our tax rate remains among the lowest in North Texas and strived to make Murphy a wonderful place to live.”
Oltmann has a degree in communications and has worked for a large electric and natural gas utility. Before that, he served with a fashion retailer.
“My career has allowed me to use my creativity to make a significant impact,” he said. Before serving on council, Oltmann was a member of the Murphy Parks & Recreation Board.
“With a lifetime of leadership experience, including serving as mayor pro tem on the council, I bring a balanced approach to leadership,” he said. “I listen to all points of view, gather facts before making decisions and know when to listen and when to speak up.”
Key issues facing council include keeping city taxes low and managing rising utility costs, he said.
“In addition … we need to address aging roads and sidewalks, plan for potential development on the city’s last large open tracts of land, stay ahead of crime and continue providing quality services for our unique community,” he said.
Oltmann’s opponent in the Saturday, May 3, general election is Chris Stout.
Early voting will be April 22-29 at the Murphy Activity Center, with the exception of Sunday, April 27.
