Students at Plano East Senior High School have been sent home today because of problems with the school’s heating system. The Plano ISD said three boilers on the campus broke down, so portable heaters were used to keep students and faculty warm until they could leave.
The temperature in Plano was 15 degrees shortly after daybreak with a wind chill near zero. Readings were not expected to warm above freezing despite sunny skies.
“We appreciate your understanding as well as your support of our efforts to keep students safe and focused on learning,” the district said in a Thursday, Feb. 20, statement.
Classes continued at other Plano ISD schools, the district added.
