Three members of the Murphy City Council face challengers in the Saturday, May 3, general election.
Candidates for the at-large seats began filing on Wednesday, Jan. 15, and filing closed at 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14.
Mayor pro tem Elizabeth Abraham, a sales operations manager who holds Place 1, will be opposed by Nadeem Khan, a Realtor.
Place 4 Councilmember Ken Oltmann, a communications specialist, faces Chris Stout and Deputy Mayor pro tem Jené Butler, a nurse practitioner, is being challenged for her Place 6 seat by civil engineer Qasim Rasul.
Place 2 Councilmember Scott Smith, a funeral director, has no opposition.
Other members of the council are Place 3 Councilmember Andrew Chase and Place 5 Councilmember Laura Deel. The mayor is Scott Bradley.
Thursday, April 3, is the last day to register to vote and early voting will be held from Tuesday, April 22, to Tuesday, April 29, in the Homer and Marie Adams Room of the Murphy Community Center, 205 N. Murphy Road.
Candidates have until 5 p.m. Thursday, April 3, to file their first report of campaign contributions and expenditures with the second report due by 5 p.m. Friday, April 25.
