LEWISVILLE – Early turnovers derailed the Plano East Panthers in a 26-3 road loss to Lewisville.

The wind played a factor in the early going at Farmers Stadium, leading to five Plano East (3-3 in 6-6A, 5-4) turnovers in the game, including an early pick-six that opened the scoring. While the defense forced four of its own against Lewisville (5-1, 7-2), it was too much to overcome after a 19-0 first-half deficit.

As things stand, Plano East sits on the outside of the playoff picture, tied with Hebron in the district standings at 3-3. The Hawks have the edge on a tiebreaker, beating Plano West Friday night for their third win.

Plano East puts itself in a great spot to make the playoffs with a win on Friday night, Nov. 3, against Marcus. The game is at the friendly confines of Kimbrough Stadium, where Plano East hasn’t lost all season.

If Plano East loses, it can still reach the playoffs with a Flower Mound win over Plano West to end the year, and a Hebron loss to Coppell. Hebron will advance with a win, no matter the other results.
