The Murphy City Council has cut six cents from the property tax rate, adopting a Fiscal Year 2024 rate of 41 cents per $100 of appraised value.
Council approved the tax rate after adopting a $52.56 million budget that is 1.7% higher than last year’s.
In other business at the regular meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 5, councilmembers approved switching vendors for the annual Tunes, Tails and Ales festival from Brewvolution to SBG Hospitality.
Council also approved spending $4.7 million for lighted pedestrian bridges across Maxwell Creek on either side of FM 544.
