Students that live in the Plano Independent School District will find themselves off to an early start in the 2023-24 school year.

PISD trustees approved the 2023-24 calendar at its monthly meeting held Tuesday, Dec. 6. The calendar features a start date of Aug. 9, 2023, and an end date of May 24, 2024.

The new calendar includes 10 additional instructional minutes per day to allow for banked minutes (up to three days) for any unforeseen school closures, such as inclement weather, along with an additional teacher/student holiday.

Students will get a full week for fall break next year. Additionally, the districts reported that the winter and spring breaks were planned to align with other area school districts. The winter break is set for Dec. 22 – Jan. 5, 2024. Spring break is set for March 11-15.
