Two Lady Panthers named to all-district team

Competing in one of the toughest districts in the state, Plano East saw improvement and two players with all-district nods.

While still finishing eighth in District 6-6A, the Lady Panthers (3-11, 8-16) improved by three wins in the district. That led to two players being named to the all-district team, led by starting second baseman Marli Kennedy, who was named to the first team. She was also named the team’s Most Valuable Player this season, leading the team in hitting from the leadoff position.

The sophomore figures to be a key part of the team for the next two seasons, hitting over .400 during the regular season.

Along with Kennedy, freshman Jadyn Dawson was an honorable mention player for the District 6-6A all-district awards. She was the top pitcher for Plano East this season, earning six wins and 59 strikeouts in non-district play this season. She also led the team in home runs this season, showing her promise as a young talent.

Ashlyn Bullington, Amber Dart, Riley Hopper, Victoria Jackson-Sears, Marli Kennedy, Cassandra Lupo, Sophia Martino, Estella Pittman, Madeline Pittman and Reese Ramos were also named the to the Academic All-District team for Plano East. Payton Leonard, Kaylee Sanchez and Bullington were the only three seniors on the roster this season.
