Council recognizes student artists

Although council chambers are usually a place to conduct city business, council had the opportunity to recognize student artists during the Tuesday, May 3 regular meeting.

The artists recognized were the winners of the Keep Murphy Beautiful art contest.

The first-place winner in the kindergarten through first grade age group was Raya Qalfat, Winston Yau won first in the second through fourth grade age group, Alia Yau was the fifth and sixth grade age group winner and Taarena Rathore won first in the seventh through 10th grade contest.

All first place winning artwork will be displayed on the side of Republic Services’ recycle trucks.

Additional winning artwork will be displayed in several businesses around town such as Mehfil Indian Cuisine, Eye Center of Murphy, Farmers Insurance, Murphy ATA Martial Arts, Countryside Smiles, My Pediatrician, The Full Spectrum Hair Salon, Ninja Nation, Glazer Family Dentistry, Brighteyes, Country Burger, Jason’s Deli, Two Crazy Bakers and Keller Williams.
