Municipal Debt is one of the biggest issues facing the city, as Murphy City Council candidate Michael Padilla.

“It is critical that we wisely manage our municipal debt, utilities and the quality of life that all Murphy residents cherish,” Padilla said. “While managing these areas, we need to continue to strategically plan for the future of Murphy as it relates to tax revenues and municipal debt.”

Padilla said his approach will be to lead through the power of ideas and possibilities by presenting them in a way that engages others and mobilizes action.

“By applying optimism and energy, these ideas will become strategies,” Padilla said, adding that strategies will become action plans, which will help Murphy residents feel recognized and see results.

Padilla said his natural energy and inclination to take on the post are some of the abilities he will bring to the position.

“The leadership qualities I bring are that of a strategist, one who maps the future” Padilla said. “And that of a polisher, one who creates a future to be proud of.”

Padilla said that when taken together, these qualities mean he will lead by bring direction, purpose and focus to action.

“My approach will be that of learning and continuous improvement while open to new ideas and possibilities,” Padilla said.
