Senior class has Panthers excited for season

by | Dec 23, 2021 | Latest, Sports

Despite missing out on the playoffs last season, the Plano East Panthers soccer team is excited for what 2022 has to offer.

The Panthers finished the season with 15 district points, winning four matches and tying three more. The new year brings plenty of optimism for coach Rick Woodard and his team, starting with changes in the program to add a second junior varsity team in the district.

“We finally got our third team this season, which puts us along with the rest of the districts around the area,” Woodard said. “That kind of evens things out a bit for us because in the past, we would have juniors we knew wouldn’t get enough playing time stuck on the bench. Now we can use one of the two JV teams and make our varsity team even deeper.”
