Commercial districts sometimes have a theme or slogan to create recognition.

Murphy leaders want the same for their business district.

At their June 15 meeting, Murphy city councilmembers approved a proposal from Eisenberg and Associates Inc. of Dallas for the business district branding project. Mayor Scott Bradley or his designee was authorized to negotiate the contract.

During the city manager’s report, City Manager Mike Castro said Larger Than Life, a national boy band tribute musical act, drew 2,000 people to Sounds at Sundown on June 11.

“I would say anecdotally the crowds have been larger than they have been in the past,” Castro said.
