Water meter swap-out will start soon in Murphy, City Manager Mike Castro told the Murphy City Council at its Tuesday meeting, with 2,000 of 6,300 meters to be done.
The process begins Dec. 7. The meters to be swapped include just the 2,000 at this time, and the process will take eight to 10 weeks, the city said.
“Specific meters will be chosen by the meter’s age and the meter’s consumption, with priority given to old meters and meters with high consumption,” Castro said in his city manager report. “People whose meters are to be swapped out will be sent a postcard giving them details.”
The city website also provides additional information on the swap-out and the process itself, Castro said.
