Crime scene tape secures the area in front of the Princeton Walmart after a stabbing injuring multiple victims occurred July 13.

A suspect was apprehended today at Walmart after stabbing two victims.

Around 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 13 Princeton PD responded to an aggravated assault at Walmart, located at 701 W. Princeton Drive. The suspect, which police have not yet confirmed the identity of, did have a Walmart vest in his possession, according to Princeton Police Chief James Waters. It has not been verified yet if the suspect was a Walmart employee.

“With the help of the FDs, multiple law enforcement agencies and American Medical Response, we were calmly and collectively able to apprehend the suspect and take control of the scene,” Waters said.

The suspect injured two shoppers, the identities which have not yet been released. Both shoppers were airlifted by PHI air medical helicopter to Medical Center of Plano with serious injuries. They are currently in stable condition.

The suspect was also injured and was treated at Medical Center of McKinney before being placed into police custody and questioned.

The only weapon, a knife, was recovered and has been taken into possession by the police department.

Walmart has been evacuated, Waters said, and will most likely remain closed as a crime scene for the rest of the evening. Several employees were checked by first responders at the scene due to heat-related symptoms.

According to reports gathered at the scene, the suspect seemed irate. At this time, Waters said, motive is unknown and the incident seems completely random in nature.

Assisting at the scene was Princeton PD, Collin County Sheriff’s Office, Dallas PD and the Collin County Constables Office.

Updates to the story will follow in the July 21 edition of the Murphy Monitor.
