Long-Term Closure of Dallas North Tollway Southbound from Trinity Mills

by | Apr 4, 2016 | Latest

The southbound Dallas North Tollway entrance ramp from Trinity Mills Road will be closed to traffic long term in the early morning hours starting Saturday, April 2. Over the next six months, construction crews will demolish and rebuild a portion of the wall and ramp to make room for a fourth lane in the area.

This work is part of the DNT Improvements Projects. Improvements that will be made during construction along the DNT between the President George Bush Turnpike and Belt Line Road include:

Restriping to add a fourth lane on southbound DNT between the Bush Turnpike and the Belt Line Road exit

Restriping to extend the existing fourth lane on northbound DNT between Trinity Mills Road exit and the Bush Turnpike

Overlaying a new surface on the existing pavement

Relocating the existing light poles from the center median to the outside of the roadway

As a reminder to drivers, the current 60 mph speed limit between the SRT and the Bush Turnpike has been extended south to Frankford Road. Also, the speed limit between Frankford and Belt Line Roads is now 55 mph. These enforceable speed limits are in place for the duration of construction. Drivers in the area should be aware that speed limit reductions will initially be in place for those traveling southbound during construction. As construction crews move to the northbound portion of DNT between Belt Line Road and PGBT, the speed limits will also be reduced in those areas.

The DNT Improvement Projects are needed to respond to the increase in traffic demand with added capacity for motorists. For more information on the DNT Improvement Projects, visit ProgressNTTA.org, email [email protected] or call 972-628-3134.
