Once a nurse, always a nurse

When Genna Lowry became a nurse decades ago she fulfilled a childhood goal.

“I had read stories of nurses mak­ing a difference and saving lives,” Lowry said. “I wanted to be that per­son wearing that white uniform and the white hat.”

However, her mother disapproved of her becoming a nurse, so Lowry went to dental assistant school right out of high school. After realizing this was not her passion, she joined the Air Force. She served for 18 months, then left the military and took advantage of the GI Bill to be­come a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN).
