Plano East commencement Saturday

More than 1,300 candidates for graduation will cross the stage in commencement exercises for the Class of 2019 at Plano East Senior High.

Graduation is set for 2:30 p.m. Saturday, June 8, at the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco. Because of limited seating, each graduation is issued eight tickets for family members and guests. There is no reserved seating.

The candidates for graduation enter the venue to the strains of “Pomp and Circumstance” played by pianist Maryanne Visconti-Pfeffer. The pledge of allegiance will be led by PESH valedictorian Alexander Lin, senior class officer Ishika Shah will provide opening remarks and Principal George King will welcome students and guests.

Addresses to their classmates and guests are to be delivered by salutatorian Shiva Teerdhala and by Lin.

King will confer degrees with Plano Independent School District Superintendent Sara Bonser and King presenting diplomas.

Student Senate Officer Felisa Welkener is slated to deliver closing remarks, the class will sing the alma mater and recessional is to “March of the Priest” played by Visconti-Pfeffer.

Class of 2019 officers are President Emily Butler, Vice President Justin Lee, Secretary Sarah Montero, Treasurer Ishika Shah, Historian Shayla Mortel and Public Relations Elise Leonard.

Student Senate Seniors are President Dewitt Welch, Vice president Kinsey Carlson, Secretary and Historian David Munoz-Sarabia, Treasurer Felisa Walkener, chairs Austin King, Madeline Pupo and Tzitlally Vastida, and senators Syed Baber, Shanice Coke, Hayden Flabiano, Alexis Hawkins, Rais Kazi, Kaitlyn Montgomery, Katherine Swanner and Alexandra Weiss.
