Purchases will provide additional security for city

by | Feb 28, 2019 | Latest

In a Tuesday, Feb. 19 regular meeting, Murphy City Council members approved the purchase of new surveillance equipment for city facilities, made revisions to the employee handbook and authorized right-of-way purchases to proceed with a street improvement project.

The meeting was conducted in the council chamber at City Hall, 206 N. Murphy Road.

A bid of $321,428 from Sigma Surveillance, Inc. was accepted for the purchase and installation of security equipment that includes 89 badge readers and 74 cameras financed with tax notes sold in January 2018.

IT Director Taylor Prentice explained the equipment includes 18 additional badge readers at city facility doors and 20 additional cameras. The additional equipment will be primarily installed at the Activity Center, pump station, lift station and two water towers, locations that did not have electronic surveillance equipment.
