PESH graduation set for Saturday

A graduating class of more than 1,300 members will cross the stage Saturday, June 9, in Plano East Senior High commencement exercises.

The ceremony starts at 9:30 a.m. in the Ford Center of The Star in Frisco.

Graduation candidates enter the venue to the strains of “Pomp and Circumstance” played by pianist Maryanne Visconti-Pfeffer. Class of 2018 valedictorian Rahul Hayaran will lead the pledge of allegiance, opening remarks will be offered by Senior Class Vice President Brian White, and Principal George King will welcome guests.

Addresses are to be given by salutatorian Mohit Gupta and valedictorian Hayaran.

King is slated to confer degrees, International Baccalaureate Coordinator Kathy Witcher and Director of Guidance Carah Marquez will called the roll of graduates, and Plano Independent School District Sara Bonser will presents certificates.

Student Senate Vice President Hunter Pierson will give closing remarks, and the ceremony ends with singing of the Alma Mater and recessional “March of the Priest” played by Visconti-Pfeffer.

Class of 2018 officers are; President Allison Hamauei, Vice President Brian Wright, Secretary Gianela Henry, Treasurer Harsh Madaik, Historian Marwan Henderson and Public Relations Ogechi Ngwakwe.

Student Senate Seniors are President Isabella Konieczka, Vice President Hunter Peirson, Treasurer Rachel Nguyen, Chairs Dania Amarneh, Channing McCurdy, Blair Buchanan and Grace Freeman, and members Philip John, Addison Newman, Roshan Damodaran and Menelik Abeje.
