A 13-year academic journey came to an end for the 2017 Plano East Senior High graduating class on Saturday, June 10 in the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco.

PESH graduated 1,252 students this year, in a class headed by valedictorian Alex Spiride and salutatorian Colin Chan, who were called on to speak to their classmates and guests.

Students walked onto the practice field of the Dallas Cowboys as commencement started with a processional to “Pomp and Circumstance” by pianist Maryanne Visconti-Pfeffer. Spiride led the pledge of allegiance, Senior Class President Matthew Carey delivered opening remarks and PESH Principal George King welcomed guests to the graduation ceremonies for 2017.

Chan summed up the new journey they are about to embark on during his salutatorian speech.
