Registration is open for the 2025 Murphy Chamber of Commerce Entrepreneurship & Innovation Bootcamp for students ages 8 to 15.
Participants will gain skills in entrepreneurship, communication and public speaking, financial literacy and sales and marketing.
The annual Youthpreneur camp will be held from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 4, in the Murphy Activity Center.
First-time campers will learn how to write a business plan and run a vendor booth at the Murphy Maize Days Festival. Students will work with a team of peers and mentors to carry out their business plan and implement their plan by volunteering at the chamber’s main Sand Art Booth.
In order to prepare for the booth, children must attend a booth preparation event 6-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12 at the Murphy Community Center and volunteer at the final event, Murphy Maize Days, which takes place Saturday, Oct. 4.
Students who have attended the camp previously and would like to participate by selling their own product will be placed with the advanced group. Business leaders will help them create a business plan and walk them through the planning and selling process at the Murphy Maize Days event.
The camp fee is $125 per student and registration is available at: bit.ly/3EWdMRX .
“Members of the Murphy Chamber of Commerce are mostly small business owners and entrepreneurs who volunteer to give back to their local community,” the chamber said. “They have a soft spot for young people who have a business idea and an entrepreneurial spirit. The chamber seeks to educate, mentor and help kids launch their new ideas and lead these future leaders to make innovative contributions to their communities.”
