The Plano East softball team keeps finding a way.

Senior Kylie Grant hit a walk-off, RBI single through a hole on the right side of the field in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift the Lady Panthers to a 3-2 home win over Euless Trinity in Game 2 of a Class 6A Division I regional semifinal.

Grant’s hit scored sophomore Gina Martin, who led off the inning with a walk, advanced to second base on an intentional walk to senior Jadyn Dawson and to third base on a fielder’s choice.

Grant accounted for two of Plano East’s five hits.

Euless Trinity capitalized on a Plano East error in the top of the fourth to gain a 2-1 lead for its first lead of the series.

The Lady Panthers were quick to respond.

Senior Cassie Lupo reached on a one-out single in the bottom of the fourth and proceeded to level the score at 2-2 after scoring on an RBI single by freshman Chloe Lee.

Senior Jadyn Dawson allowed four hits and two runs (one earned) with eight strikeouts in seven innings.

Dawson was at her best when she was under pressure.

Euless Trinity loaded the bases with no outs in a 2-2 tie in the top of the sixth inning following two singles and a walk, but Dawson responded with a strikeout, a fly-out to shallow center field and a strikeout to survive the jam.

Plano East (28-9) advances to the Region I-6A Division I final — first regional final for the Lady Panthers since 2012.

The Lady Panthers will play the Flower Mound-Odessa Permian winner next week. Flower Mound defeated Permian 8-4 Friday night to take a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three series. Games 2, and if necessary, 3, will be played Saturday.
