Election Day is May 3

Murphy voters will head to the polls Saturday May 3.

Voting is open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Murphy Community Center, 205 N. Murphy Road.

Three members of the Murphy City Council face challengers in the general election Saturday, May 3.

Candidates for Place 1 include incumbent and Mayor pro tem Elizabeth Abraham who is opposed by Nadeem Khan.

Place 4 Councilmember Ken Oltmann faces challenger Chris Stout and Deputy Mayor pro tem Jené Butler is being challenged for Place 6 by Qasim Rasul. Place 2 Councilmember Scott Smith has no opposition.

Murphy voters in the Plano ISD school district will also vote for four at-large candidates who will serve for four years. Place 1 incumbent Lauren Tyra is running unopposed. Place 2 candidates are Sam Johnson and Xiomar Pierre; Place 3 candidates include longtime incumbent and board president Nancy Humphrey who will face challenger Harper Weaver. The race for Place 6 includes Andrew Rettke, Elisa Klein and Dash Weerasinghe.

The nine-member Collin College Board of Trustees has three seats up this year. Trustees serve six year terms. In Place 4, Staci Weaver and Tamara Thomas have filed for the seat previously occupied by Greg Gomel. Place 5 incumbent Raj Menon is running unopposed. Place 6 incumbent Stacy Arias filed for reelection but withdrew from the race leaving Justin Adcock unopposed.
