Place 1 candidate would focus on fiscal responsibility – CORRECTED

by | Apr 10, 2025 | Latest

City council candidate Nadeem Khan wants to build on his experience as vice president of the Murphy Community Development
Corporation and Murphy Municipal Development District.
“I aim to further contribute to the city council by representing the citizens’ needs and ensuring their voices are heard.” Khan said. “Having observed the council for many years, I’ve identified areas for improvement and want to make the council more accessible to the community.”

Khan, a real estate agent, said he began working in the banking industry in 1992, so he brings over 25 years of experience in management, sales, training, and overseeing, maintaining and growing a mass client base.

Khan has been a Murphy resident for seven years and said he has built strong relationships with Murphy residents from diverse backgrounds and skill sets. He said he would advocate for residents by listening to community concerns and then acting decisively and compassionately on their behalf.

He also would promote collaboration and accountability, building a resilient Murphy that thrives and secures a prosperous future for all of its citizens.

“We must take a multi-faceted approach to economic resilience by focusing on fiscal responsibility and strategic investments to ease the financial strain on our residents while fostering growth and development,” he said. “This includes closely examining the budget to eliminate inefficiencies, seeking new funding opportunities and supporting long-term sustainability policies.”

Khan’s opponent in the Saturday, May 3, general election is Place 1 Councilmember Elizabeth Abraham.

Early voting will be April 22-29 at the Murphy Activity Center, with the exception of Sunday, April 27.
