The Panthers head into tonight’s game with McKinney Boyd against a Broncos’ team that’s hungry for a win; being 0-5 overall and 0-2 in District 6-6A will do that to a team.
Most recently, the Broncos took it on the chin 52-20 last Friday at Wylie. However, they’ll be facing a Panther team that’s also looking to get a win, especially after falling 34-6 the same evening at Denton Guyer. That defeat dropped PESH to 2-3 overall and 1-1 in district play.
“They’ve played a really good, tough schedule,” East head coach Joey McCullough said. “We’ve got to play better. We didn’t tackle well on defense (against Guyer). Offensively, we couldn’t convert (first downs) and didn’t run the ball. We’ve got to go back to basic fundamentals.”
The Panthers produced just 200 yards of offense against a solid Wildcats’ club (4-1, 2-0), with 140 of that coming through air. Twenty-four of those yards came on a first-quarter touchdown pass from Cameron Moore to Mikail Simmons, which would be the lone time East would see the end zone.
