MURPHY — The Panthers roared back to life this past Friday when they downed Wylie 36-21 in the District 6-6A opener for both teams.
Now, their job is to keep that going over the next seven district games, starting Friday at Denton Guyer, which also won its 6-6A opener by downing Plano 34-24.
“I feel good about it,” head coach Joey McCullough said. “I know they’re going to be tough. We have to go in and fix some things, see how they are. I know they like to run the football. That, to me, is one of the things we have been good at (stopping the run), when we are not worried about the pass.”
The Wildcats did “run” the ball this past Friday, gaining more than 350 yards on the ground against Plano, with Noah Cain getting more than 200 on his own, while scoring three touchdowns.
