Miklo Smalls finds some running room through the Jesuit defense.

The Panthers got a much-needed victory last Friday at the Cotton Bowl, where East trampled Jesuit 51-27, improving to 1-1.
Now, the black and gold, which plans to wear charcoal gray this Friday, will finally get to stay home for a Friday evening, as they’ll host winless Arlington at Kimbrough Stadium.
“They are so fired up about going back to what we call ‘the Brough,’” head coach Joey McCullough said. “Our kids are excited about it. We’ve had two pretty road trips. They loved the idea of playing in the Cotton Bowl, but there is something about playing at home … It’s a big night for us. We’ll unveil our new uniforms (charcoal gray), so we’re excited about that.”
In Arlington, which has fallen 22-20 to South Grand Prairie and 50-35 to Flower Mound Marcus, McCullough expects to face a team that’s hungry for victory, and which has plenty of weapons to accomplish that task.
“They’ve lost to two very good teams,” McCullough said. “I know this, they are a well-coached team. I talked to (head coach) Scott Peach … and he’s playing a lot of people right now, trying to find (his team) before district.”
