A dozen Murphy residents came before city council to request passage of a resolution calling for a cease-fire to halt Israel’s bombardment of Gaza since the Oct. 7 attack by Hamas.
Mayor Scott Bradley thanked the speakers for their comments but said he could not support what could be a divisive resolution not directly linked to the business of running the city.
“Shame!” members of the audience called out in response as they left the Jan. 2 council meeting. “Children are dying!” some said.
