The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has granted a permit for a wastewater treatment plant that would serve a new housing subdivision proposed to be built between Parker and Murphy.
At a hearing Wednesday, Aug. 16, the commission approved the developers’ request to discharge up to 200,000 gallons of treated sewage per day into Maxwell Creek.
The wastewater would come from 666 homes to be built on 100 acres just west of Southfork Ranch.
The cities of Parker and Murphy, along with affected individuals, are weighing options for continuing the two-year fight to stop the plant from being built.
