Plano East comes up short against Plano West

by | Oct 22, 2022 | Latest, Sports

The Plano East Panthers (0-5, 3-5) lost their fifth straight in a close battle against the Plano West Wolves (1-4, 2-6) Friday night, losing 31-28 on the road.

Too many turnovers and missed opportunities ruined the Panthers’ chances for a victory and a shot at the playoffs. Plano East’s defense came up big early in the game with timely stops, but the West offense came back with a touchdown halfway through the fourth. East’s chance for a tie or victory ended after going three-and-out late in the game.

Panthers quarterback Drew Devillier completed 12 out of 24 passes for 164 yards and three touchdowns. Wide receiver Rushil Patel had a better game than the previous two by catching 7 passes for 119 yards and two scores. Running back Jaylon Hatcher ran for 111 yards and a touchdown.

Plano West’s rushers Dermot White and Donovan Martin combined for three touchdowns, making up for the loss of their starting quarterback. Plano West finished with 367 offensive yards to East’s 345.

Plano East returns to Murphy next Friday for their final home game of the season. They’ll face the district-leading Lewisville Fighting Farmers (5-0, 7-1) at Kimbrough Stadium.
