Plano East finishes second in district, sends 10 players to regionals

The Panthers wrestling program had its best season to date, finishing second overall at the District 6-6A tournament.

Plano East finished with 175 points, beating out Prosper (171 points) and Wylie (138 points) in the final scores. Allen finished first overall with a total score of 356.5 points.

Individually, eight Plano East boy wrestlers and two girls qualified for the regional tournament, along with five alternates. Aidan Miller, Peyton Madawi, David Seres, Tory Strickland, Benjamin Kaplan, Grant Shafer, Aariz Habib and Aaron Rodriguez qualified for the boy’s team.

Holden Stokes, Jose Morente, Matthew Lamp and Talaal Habib were listed as alternates in their weight classes. Coach Bryan Kenney and assistant coach Noel Pederson were named the 6-6A Coach and Assistant Coach of the Year.

In the girls division, Abigail Jarvis and Taiylar Williams qualified for regionals, with Alena Cedeno Mora as an alternate.

The regional tournament will take place at Allen High School Feb. 11-12.
