by | Feb 2, 2022 | Latest, Sports

On Tuesday night, the Plano East girls basketball kept its undefeated season alive with a 59-51 victory over Plano.

Leading 17-6 after the first quarter, Plano East (12-0, 22-3) got off to a hot start from two 3-point field goals from Donavia Hall to take an early lead. Hall scored 14 points, while Ada Anamekwe led the team with 15.

Plano came back in the second half, as the Lady Panthers shot 6/16 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter. The victory was the 28th straight district win for Plano East. They’ll travel to Coppell this Friday, Feb. 4.

Meanwhile, the Plano East (5-5, 23-6) boys team nearly knocked off undefeated Plano in a 46-41 road loss.

The Panthers were winning by three points heading into the final quarter but were outscored 17-9 in the final frame in defeat. Jordan Mizell and Corey Upkins had eight points apiece.

Plano East sits in a three-way tie for the final two playoff spots. Their game Friday against Coppell is against another team 5-5 in district play.
