Lake Highlands outruns Plano East

by | Sep 4, 2021 | Latest, Sports

The Plano East Panthers (0-2) gave Lake Highlands (2-0) all they could handle, but ultimately the Wildcats won out.

Lake Highlands scored 31 points in the first half on the way to a 55-24 victory. Plano East, playing in Kimbrough Stadium for the first time this season, got three touchdowns out of senior running back Ismail Mahdi.

The Panthers had some momentum just before the end of the first half, as Buzz Flabiano connected on a 42-yard field goal to cut the lead to 31-10. Then, the Panthers surprised everyone with an onside kick recovery to get the ball back.

With one more chance to put some points on the board, Drew DeVillier was intercepted on the Hail Mary attempt as the half expired. In total, Lake Highlands outran Plano East in yardage 354-240.

Plano East will look to pick up its first win of the season on the road against Wylie (0-2) on Sept. 10.
