Activities celebrating Easter and the arrival of Spring are on tap in the area over the next couple of weeks.

Churches are gearing up for Easter Sunday services, March 27, and Holy Days leading up to the observance, while other organizations are opening up for Spring with their own seasonal celebrations.

Three churches in Murphy will be offering Easter Egg hunts this weekend and next weekend as well.

First Baptist Church, located at 800 N. Murphy Rd., has an egg hunt scheduled for Saturday, March 20 following the 10:30 a.m. service. The church is located at the southeast corner of North Murphy Road and McMillen, just north of the high school. There will be a picnic with hotdogs, hamburgers, chips and drinks, to go along with the egg hunting.

Murphy Road Baptist Church is hosting an egg hunt Sunday, March 20 following the 11 a.m. service.

The church is located at 411 S. Murphy Rd.

Elevate Church will be hosting a pair of hunts, one at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 26 and one at noon Sunday, March 27 at 701 E. FM 544. There will be over 5,000 eggs in several different age divisions.

Drive north to Lucas to Good Shepherd United Methodist Church March 27 at 11 a.m. for an Easter Egg hunt. It is open to all children. The church is located at 750 W., Lucas Road.

First United Methodist Church of Wylie is presenting a living tableau of the Last Supper from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Maundy Thursday, March 24. FUMC also will host an Easter Egg hunt for area children from 10 a.m. until noon Saturday, March 26.

In-Sync Exotics, a big cat rescue organization at 3430 Skyview Drive in Wylie, is holding an Easter Egg hunt Saturday, March 26. Admission is $12 for adults and $10 for children ages three through 12.

On tap are games with prizes, face painting, snow cones, the Easter Bunny, bounce house and, of course, egg hunting. Hunts start at 11:30 a.m. for the youngest children and continue until the final group starts searching at 1:30 p.m. The event is open to children under six years of age up to 13.
